P/PR surface finishing / electropolishing in simple HF-free electrolytes

The roughness of a surface determines how a device will interact with its environment. For most applications a smooth surface is wanted to prevent wear, have a lower coefficient of friction, limit irregularities that may act as nucleation sites for cracks or corrosion, etc. One method to produce the desired surface finish is P/PR surface finishing/electropolishing. One of the most important advantages of electropolishing over other polishing techniques is its ability to polish objects of complex shapes. E. Jennings Taylor will explain how electropolishing works and how it can beneficial for the medical device industry or any other industry you are in.
